In most cases, the sensors function in a loop of feedback that is closed, regulating the injection of fuel to meet the emission requirements. As a result, they aid in maintaining a constant air-fuel combination. The fuel temperature sensor’s job is to keep track of the temperature of the fuel inside the tank and communicate that data to the Power Control Module (PCM). It also keeps an eye on the gasoline for signs of water, ethanol, or grit contamination.
The fuel temperature sensor will transmit a signal to the PCM if the temperature of the fuel is outside of the acceptable range. The P0189 error code will be stored in the PCM. The check engine light will illuminate quickly for some Rolls-Royce models, while it will take longer for older models to recognize the problem.
